TAIPEI (Taiwan News) – The 2018 CKS Shilin Residence Chrysanthemum Show officially kicked off on Nov. 30, with exhibitions of a variety of chrysanthemums and many performances and events having attracted more than 450,000 people to visit, Taipei City’s Parks and Street Lights Office (PSLO) said in a news release on Thursday.

With only a weekend left to watch the chrysanthemums, which are still blooming, at former President Chiang Kai-shek’s Shilin residence, we’d like to draw attention to a couple of the top activities designed to end the flower show on a high note.

PSLO director Huang Li-yuan (黃立遠) said that the agency had invited indigenous dancing troupe New Century Culture Arts Group to perform at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 15 in the hopes that citizens will be exposed to the enthusiasm and vigor of Taiwan’s indigenous people, the agency.

On Sunday, the last day of the chrysanthemum show, there will be performances from an international dancing troupe and a domestic symphonic band, said Ho Chi-hua (賀綺華), chief of PSLO’s Horticulture Management Division. At 10 a.m. on Sunday, the Jollof African drum troupe will perform and provide African drum dance instruction to interested audience, and at 2 p.m., Soochow University’s symphonic group will perform “Autumn Chrysanthemum Symphony” to officially conclude the flower show, Ho added.

The PSLO urges the public to enjoy the chrysanthemums as well as the performances during the last weekend when the flowers are still blooming.
