Taiwan and Japan to convene on economic and trade issues in Taipei

TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — The Taiwan-Japan Economic and Trade Conference will be held from Thursday to Friday, Nov. 29 - 30 in Taipei, announced the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA).

The conference will be led by Chiou I-jen (邱義仁), head of the Taiwan-Japan Relations Association, and Mitsuo Ohashi, chairman of the Japan-Taiwan Exchange Association, and will cover a wide range of topics concerning economic and trade affairs between Taiwan and Japan.

Initiated in 1976, the conference is organized annually and held alternately in either Taiwan or Japan.

In addition, a committee founded by the Taiwanese and Japanese authorities to jointly develop potential markets overseas will open on Wednesday in Taipei.

The committee is also led by Chiou and Ohashi, respectively representing Taiwan and Japan.

The event intends to promote information sharing and corporate cooperation between Taiwan and Japan regarding markets outside of these two countries.
