TAIPEI (Taiwan News) – Taiwan’s Coast Guard Administration (CGA) is actively searching for three missing people, after an overturned fishing boat was found in the waters off Donggang Township, Pingtung County on Nov. 21, reported CNA.

The Kaohsiung registered fishing boat Chin-huang-meng 6 (金晃盟6號) left port on Nov. 16, with a crew of three people onboard.

The overturned boat was found by a passenger ship traveling between Donggang Township and Lamay Island at 7.00 a.m. today, reported Apple Daily.

No one was found near the overturned vessel, which triggered a search mission by the CGA.

The owner of the vessel told authorities that the ship was loaned to a friend. After the friend was not heard from for three days, the owner reported the incident.

The Coast Guard said that it is unclear if the crew are safe, and if the crew fell into the water.

The investigation is ongoing.
