Feeling the joy of the season

Feeling the joy of the season

Christmas carols are being played on the radio and lanterns are being displayed in front of homes. The entire neighborhood is covered with twinkling lights. It's Christmas! Time really flies.
To me, Christmas is always a time of joy. When I was younger, I could hardly wait for the Yuletide season's arrival. Christmas then meant delicious meals, gifts from relatives, and of course, our aginaldo from our godparents.
We celebrate Christmas to mark the birth of the Messiah, Christ our savior. Why don't we give love everyday? Why don't we celebrate Christmas in our hearts and minds?
Eventually, I discovered the true meaning of Christmas. It is not just about sharing material gifts, it is about loving those who are around us. It is a time of reflection, a time of renewal. It is about forgiving ourselves and those who have wronged us. It is about cherishing those who have loved us deeply - our parents, our siblings.
Reach out to them. Pick up the phone and tell them how much you love them. Is that such a tall order?
Nakakalungkot isipin na malayo ako sa aking pamilya sa mga ganitong pagkakataon. I miss the laughter, the companionship, the warmth of hearth and home. But life must go on. I cannot find any reason to give up. This is a great opportunity, a gift from God. I may be working in a foreign land but God has surrounded me with people who are humble and kind. Isn't that enough?
Home however is where the heart is. Here in Taiwan, our neighborhood is bereft of lanterns, twinkling lights, belens and other Christmas ornaments. It is quiet - no Christmas carols, no festive jingles. I could not however let my loneliness defeat me. I could celebrate Christmas by thanking God for all the good tidings that He had given me this past year.
This season, I won't be buying expensive gifts or capricious treats. I will be remitting my earnings to my very sick father. I want him to get well before the end of the year. I am praying that the Lord will heal him, and bless him with a long and fruitful life. I am grateful to Pinoy Express. They have never let me down. All of my remittances have been delivered to my family as promised. They are fast and reliable. I hope Pinoy Express will continuously prosper and grow not only in Taiwan but all over the world. Thank you Pinoy for being a part of my family.
