Itinerant discovers true meaning of Christmas, learns to count her blessings

Christmas has been an integral part of the Filipino tradition. During the month of December, we celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ - the Savior of mankind. It is a time of joy, forgiveness, renewal and love. Today, that's how I celebrate Christmas in Taiwan. I still remember those Christmases that I had spent away from my loved ones. In our country, entire streets are festooned with lanterns, twinkling lights and other holiday decors. Christmas carols are being played non-stop on the radio. There's a feast in every home. In Taiwan, we celebrated Christmas in total silence. We were buried in our work. Only our tears bore witness to the intense loneliness that we were feeling deep inside our hearts.
Ever since I renewed my relationship with God, I started looking at Christmas differently. I realized that we need not wait for December to show love, spread joy and forgive those who have wronged us. What is important is that Jesus resides in our hearts. He is the reason why we celebrate Christmas in the first place. God is the source of our blessings and happiness.
(John 3:16) Have we ever thought of the birthday celebrant this Christmas? Are we willing to humble ourselves before Him and give Him praise? Lahat po tayo ay dumaranas ng lindol sa buhay ngunit sabi ng ating Panginoon, "I give them eternal life and they shall not perish; neither shall anyone snatch them out of my hand." We can renew our relationship with God by simply lifting up everything to Him, by having faith in Him. Never doubt Him. We will always be facing hurdles but worry not. God Himself said, "I give them eternal life and they shall not perish; neither shall anyone snatch them out of my hand." (John 10:28) Isn't that wonderful? Our faith in God will save us in our hour of need. He will take us out of the dark. This is not surprising really. After all, He's got the whole world in His hands. We should be thankful even for the trials that we are facing now - personal problems, financial struggles, illnesses. By doing so, we know that God truly loves us. He wants us to grow stronger by facing those challenges.
God is like our father on earth. He will never give you problems that you cannot overcome. In fact, He will be there to carry our load for us. Everything has a purpose and a plan. If you put God on top of your priority list, you will reap several benefits.
He will protect our loved ones, and enrich our lives. What's more, it's free. Your vices - alcohol, cigarettes and other earthly pleasures - do not only cost money, they could also lead to your financial ruin. You might even end up spending your cash bond. Your family will suffer too. Instead of catering to your personal needs, why not do something productive?
I thank the Lord for companies like Pinoy Express. What differentiates them from other companies is their quality of service. They treat us like family members, not just as customers. They always make us feel at home.
