Two artworks from Taiwan’s Kinmen Design Project win Red Dot awards 2018

Through art and design, Kinmen island aims to boost its international profile

TAIPEI (Taiwan News) -- Taiwan's Kinmen Island is hosting an artwork exhibition at the county's Cultural Affairs Bureau from Nov. 19 to 23 in order to honor several outstanding design submissions by students. Especially two of the artworks from the project were named in this year's Red Dot Communication Design Award.

Starting from last year, Kinmen County Government held an annual design competition that opened for students to submit their designs and artworks which were required to feature abundant elements from Kinmen's culture, history, nature, and human. Through art and design, the island intended to visually promote its beauty and encourage tourists coming to explore the island.

This year's event received a total of 118 applications with diverse topics from 20 universities. Among all the submissions of this year, two designs were named as winners of Red Dot Award: Communication Design, including a poster series titled "Have Fun in Kinmen" and a packaging design titled "Artillerools".

Red Dot Design Award is an international design competition held by the Design Zentrum in Germany and comprises three different categories of product design, communication design and design concept.

The exhibition to remark outstanding artworks from participants in this year's design project will last until Nov.23 on the second floor of Kinmen County's Cultural Affairs Bureau.
