Taiwanese-American NBA star Jeremy Lin joins advisory board of startup accelerator in Taipei

TAIPEI (Taiwan News) -- SparkLabs Taipei has announced on Saturday (Nov. 17) that it has added Taiwanese-American NBA star Jeremy Lin (林書豪) to its advisory board, reported techcrunch.com.

In a press statement, SparkLabs Taipei, which is part of SparkLabs Group, announced the raising of US$4.25 million in an initial close led by CTBC Group and the addition of Jeremy Lin to its board of advisors.

Announcing his joining of the organization Lin said, "SparkLabs Taipei is an innovative fund offering support and guidance for entrepreneurs in Taiwan. Being a trailblazer is challenging and having a strong support system is critical to your success. I'm excited to join a strong team of partners and advisors at SparkLabs Taipei and look forward to meeting some great entrepreneurs."

Other successful Taiwanese and Taiwanese-Americans who have been mentioned as joining the advisory board include YouTube co-founder Steve Chen (陳士駿), Kabam co-founder and CEO Kevin Chou (周凱文), and Charles Huang (黃忠彥) and Kai Huang (黃忠凱) , co-founders of RedOctane, the producer of Guitar Hero.

Edgar Chiu, Managing Partner of SparkLabs Taipei, in the statement described the qualities that attracted the firm to Lin:
