TAIPEI (Taiwan News) – An express bus linking Yilan County with Taoyuan International Airport rolled into service on Nov. 19, with the trip expected to take about two and a half hours, reported CNA.
A round trip on the route will cost up to NT$280 (US$9.05), and one-way tickets are NT$140.
The service is operated by United Bus (統聯客運) and the route number is 1661. The route will operate 24 hours a day, with wait periods varying between 30 and 60 minutes, reported CNA.
The bus will stop at Yilan City, Jiaoxi Township, and Luodong Township in Yilan County, before traveling to the airport via national highways.
A round-trip from Luodong Township will cost NT$280, while a round-trip from Yilan City and Jiaoxi Township will cost NT$250 and NT$200 respectively.
A one-way ticket costs half the price of a round-trip, offering greater flexibility for passengers.
Member of the Legislative Yuan, Chen Ou-po (陳歐珀), told CNA the new route will make traveling to the airport cheaper for Yilan residents, and it will also help bring international tourists to the region.
Prior to the bus service, Yilan County residents had to transfer via Taipei to travel to Taoyuan airport, causing inconvenience and taking over 3 hours in total.
