Ohio Man Fights Unexpected Holiday Guest

A man discovered an unexpected holiday guest the day after Christmas _ a stranger sleeping inside his glass-enclosed back porch. The result was a fight until police could get there. Glen Parker told Akron police he found a man curled up on a chair on his porch Tuesday morning and decided to awaken him.
"He came up swinging and lunged at me," said Parker, 24, who traded punches with the intruder at the home he shares with his grandmother, mother and two small children.
"He was just sleeping there, chilling," Parker said. "I was just going to tell him to go on about his business and then he got up fighting."
The struggle lasted for about 10 minutes, as Parker's mother called police. Parker, who was not hurt, said he was glad that his two children _ a 2-year-old boy and a 4-year-old girl _ were at a nearby day-care center.
Police arrested Dean Butler, 41, who was charged with burglary, including the Parker home and two other homes on the same street.
Akron police Lt. Rick Edwards said Butler, who was released from prison in February, had a backpack that contained credit cards, house keys, a woman's purse and cell phones. Butler, who pleaded not guilty Wednesday in Akron Municipal Court, was being held on bond in the Summit County Jail.
Butler was expected to meet with a court-appointed attorney Thursday.
