Stock markets to observe moments of silence in honor of late president Ford

The major U.S. stock exchanges planned moments of silence Wednesday in honor of President Gerald Ford, who died Tuesday at 93.
The New York Stock Exchange said it will observe a moment of silence in Ford's honor before the opening of trading at 9:30 a.m. EST (1430 GMT). The Nasdaq Stock Market said it will observe a moment of silence at 11 a.m. (1600 GMT).
U.S. stock markets traditionally have closed on the day of a president's funeral. The exchanges said they were waiting for details of Ford's funeral to be released before announcing their own plans.
