Thai shares end down on profit-taking in blue chips

Thai shares ended down 0.1 percent on Wednesday, led by profit-taking in banks and energy blue chips.
The Stock Exchange of Thailand's benchmark SET Index edged down 0.84 points to close at 687.88, as trading totaled 1.4 billion shares worth 5.6 billion baht.
Among actively traded issues, oil and gas conglomerate PTT was down 0.9 percent to 210 baht, Kasikorn Bank shed 0.8 percent to 62.50 baht and the country's largest oil refiner Thai Oil was down 0.9 percent at 53 baht.
Analysts expect trade volume to remain thin for the rest of the week ahead of the year-end holiday.
"In the absence of fresh catalysts and with the holidays drawing near, most players are staying away," said Peter Limsupanark, an analyst at BFIT Securities.
