Right mattress, pleasant surroundings said helpful to solve insomnia.

Study shows that 20 percent of people in Taiwan suffer from sleeping problem, according to IKEA. Over 2 million complain of some degree of insomnia.
IKEA for the first time recently cooperated with Shin Kong Wu Ho Su Memorial Hospital's Sleep Center in addressing sleep disorder by refurbishing the sleep environment.
IKEA donated to the sleep center different Sultan mattresses to help solve individual sleeping needs depending on physical weight, height as well as preferred sleeping position.
The Sultan mattress range (see samples in photo) includes the spring mattress, the foam mattress, the latex mattress, and the wooden-base spring mattress. The latex kind for single person, for example, costs NT$11,500.
Decorating the bedroom to create conducive sleep surroundings is important, too, according to IKEA. People in Taiwan tend to live in homes with very limited space. As a result, the surroundings are very likely to be quite crowded and cluttered. Such a situation has an adverse effect on a person's sleep.
Even the choice of color scheme for the bedroom has an effect on an individual's sleep quality, according to neurologist Chang Shang-wen. The overly intense colors have an agitating effect on people's mood. And bright lights work against sleep and complete rest.
Chang further remarked that the stressful modern-day lifestyle has increasingly accounted for the insomnia problem of the population. Insomnia can trigger other serious health problems, he warned. He suggested taking a glass of warm milk, indulging in a warm bath and listening to relaxing music before going to bed. And, of course, a pleasant sleeping environment goes a long way towards improving the quality of sleep, he pointed out.
