Hubbell and Donohue win ice dance at International Classic

SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — Madison Hubbell and Zach Donohue won the ice dance event at the International Classic on Saturday night, skating a solid free dance to a medley of songs from the 1996 film "Romeo and Juliet."

The reigning world silver medalists built a big lead after the rhythm dance before scoring 118.31 points in the free dance. That gave Hubbell and Donohue a total of 197.42, easily outdistancing American teammates Christina Carreira and Anthony Ponomarenko's score of 174.04.

The Japanese team of Misato Komatsubara and Tim Koleto leaped the Canadian dance team of Haley Sales and Nikolas Wamsteeker on Saturday night to take bronze.

The International Classic concludes later Saturday night with the ladies' free skate.
