TAIPEI (Taiwan News) -- Dazzling neon lights are seen dancing on the Keelung River from Taipei City's Rainbow Riverside Park (彩虹河濱公園) at night in this undated photo.

Taipei's riverside parks are being promoted by the city's Public Works Department as an alternative spot to view the Taipei 101 New Year's Eve fireworks display and light show.

The top spots to catch Taipei 101's fireworks display include the Rainbow Riverside Park between the Minquan Bridge and MacArthur First Bridge, the Rainbow bridge that connects the Songshan and Neihu districts, and riverside parks around the Dazhi Bridge.

This year's pyrotechnic extravaganza at Taipei 101 will be the longest in history a six minutes in length and will be complemented by a light display using 140,000 LED lights covering the tower's exterior from the 35th floor and going all the way up to the 90th.
