TAIPEI (Taiwan News) – The mayor of a town in Serbia collapsed after a lunch in Yilan County and was pronounced dead by doctors, reports said Saturday.

Later reports identified him as Dragi Nestorovic, 60, the mayor of Krusevac, an important town in Central Serbia of more than 70,000 inhabitants.

The mayor was reportedly having lunch at a restaurant in Yilan City when he suddenly felt dizzy and collapsed, the Central News Agency reported. He was transferred to the local branch of National Yang-Ming University Hospital, but attempts to revive him failed, and he was pronounced dead at 1:25 p.m., reports said.

Hospital officials were unwilling to reveal more details, referring questions to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, CNA reported.

He arrived in Taiwan on October 16 for a tour focusing on economic development, the Chinese-language Apple Daily wrote. On Saturday morning, his delegation had visited a distillery in Yilan, while at the restaurant all he had eaten was a piece of bread, the report said.
