TAIPEI (Taiwan News) – A total of 565 imported boxes of Acuvue contact lenses contained bristles and a high concentration of preservative fluid, according to Taiwan's Food and Drugs Administration (FDA).
Section chief of the FDA Wu Cheng-ning (吳正寧) said Friday that three lots of imported contact lenses from the Acuvue brand produced by Johnson and Johnson medical care have been found to contain irregular substances.
Customers using two weeks of disposable Acuvue-brand contact lenses with batch numbers L002NCS and the daily disposable contact lens with numbers 2836840101 or 2836840102 should take caution, officials said.
In addition, customers are allowed to return those affected contact lenses with lot numbers above back to the company via telephone number: 0800-068-346.
On Oct. 18, the same medical company in Japan also announced that four lots of Acuvue contact lenses were reported to have "strange things" and they later retrieved 3,000 boxes of deficient contact lenses, as reported by CNA.
Acuvue is the world's first soft disposable contact lens and resorts under Johnson & Johnson Vision Care Company.
