TAIPEI (Taiwan News) – Jocellyn Duterte Villarica, the sister of Philippines President Rodrigo Duterte, has been visiting Taiwan, cable station TVBS reported Friday.

She predicted she would pay a visit to the island when she attended its Double Ten National Day event in Manila earlier this month.

While in Taiwan this week, she visited the Taipei City Government, the National Palace Museum, Taipei 101, the Environmental Protection Administration and the Industrial Technology Research Institute (ITRI), according to the TVBS report.

Jocellyn Duterte expressed satisfaction with her trip and praised the Taiwanese capital as a clean city and the Taiwanese as friendly, while adding she would certainly visit again.

She revealed that her brother had also traveled to the country before he was president, though she did not add when that happened. As she was a simple tourist, she did not want to comment on political issues, TVBS quoted her as saying. The Philippines maintains official diplomatic relations with China, though the two have had disputes over islands in the South China Sea.

The president’s sister was a beneficiary of the Taiwanese government’s “New Southbound Policy” as she was allowed to enter the country without a visa, the TV station reported.
