TAIPEI (Taiwan News)—Taipei Public Library (TPL) will be offering free learning courses for Indonesian expats in cooperation with I-Link Community Services Association’s Indonesian New Immigrant and Migrant Workers’ Center, starting October 8, TPL said in a news release issued last week.

Two courses--English language classes and Computer classes--are available, and classes are held on the second and fourth Sunday of each month, TPL said.

The computer course will cover the topics of using Word to write resumes, employing Excel to organize charts and numbers, and creating slides and internet teaching materials through PowerPoint, TPL said.

The English language class will be an introductory course focusing on terms for everyday life, daily conversations, and spelling, the public library said, adding that both courses will be taught in Indonesian.

The class will be held at the Multicultural Information Center located on the 9th floor of TPL's main library, which is located at No. 125, Sec. 2, Jianguo S. Rd. according to the library. The facility also houses the Indonesian Information Area with books and journals in Indonesian, which provides a good place for Indonesian friends to learn by themselves or spend free time, and they can also check out publications they like for reading at home, TPL said.

For registration, please call the Indonesian New Immigrant and Migrant Workers’ Center (TEL:02-2367-6646, ext. 8235) or visit the Chinese website of TPL.
