TAIPEI (Taiwan News) - ZhaXiPingCuo (扎西平措), from Team Liu Huan (劉歡), who is known for mixing World music with elements of Tibetan performances, emerged the grand champion for the second season of Sing! China.

Singapore's Jazz vocalist Joanna Dong has finished third in the Sing! China finals, failing to make the cut for the grand final involving the top two contestants. Dong performed a reinterpretation of Applause (掌聲響起) by Fong Fei-Fei(鳳飛飛) on Sunday night (Oct 8) at the iconic Beijing National Stadium(鳥巢).Earlier yesterday, she sang Simple Love (簡單愛) together with mentor Jay Chou (周杰倫). She incorporated The Carpenters’ Top of the World in her performance.

Dong was up against four finalists from the other mentors’ teams in the season two finale of the programme. Namely Doris Guo (郭沁) from Team Na Ying (那英), Kai-ye Xiao (肖凱曄) and Ye Xiaoyue (葉曉粵) from Team Eason Chan (陳奕迅), and ZhaXiPingCuo (扎西平措) from Team Liu Huan (劉歡).

Based on results after the first two rounds of performances – where the audience was asked to cast votes, Guo and ZhaXiPingCuo advanced to the grand finals. ZhaXiPingCuo eventually won with the highest number of votes from a 101-person panel and audience members.

The Tibetan teacher edged out Guo, a 17-year old student from Hunan, with a score of 105.18 versus 95.82. The final score was a matrix of votes cast by 101 professional judges and the audience.
