TAIPEI (Taiwan News) – At least 15 cities and counties will be subject to strong winds over land during the Double Ten Holiday, according to a warning issued by the Central Weather Bureau Friday.
Due to the advent of the northeastern wind, some cities in the North such as Keelung City and New Taipei City will be affected by strong winds while Yilan County has been slapped with a heavy rain advisory.
Several places from the north to the center of Taiwan, as well as its southeastern part (including Green Island and Orchid Island), and islands such as Penghu, Kinmen, and Matsu are likely to suffer winds of force 9-10 from Saturday afternoon. People traveling to these places should take caution, according to the CWB.
In addition, the bureau has issued an alert for heavy downpours in many parts of northern Taiwan for Friday.
Most Taiwanese will have a four-day holiday, from Saturday through Tuesday, for the October 10 Double Ten National Day.
