TAIPEI (Taiwan News) – The Indian festival of lights known as Diwali or Deepavali will be celebrated at Taiwan’s National Palace Museum on Saturday Oct 7.

The event will be held from 15:00 to 21:00 and will include a number of performances and traditional Indian folk dances. The folk dances from different parts of India, namely Tamil Nadu, Punjab and Rajasthan will be performed by dancers.

Dance groups based in Taiwan will also perform Bharatnatyam, Odissi and Kathak which are the major genres of Indian classical dance.

Diwali or Deepavali is the Indian festival of lights celebrated every year in autumn. It is one of the most popular festivals in India. The festival signifies the victory of light over darkness, good over evil, knowledge over ignorance and hope over despair.
