TAIPEI (Taiwan News)—Taiwan High Speed Rail Corp. (THSRC) announced Monday that bullet train tickets for the nine-day “Mid-Autumn Festival and Double Ten Day” holiday period from Oct. 3 to Oct. 11 would be available for booking from midnight on Sept. 6.

The THSRC said in a press release that this year’s Mid-Autumn Festival falls on Oct. 4, which is close to the Double Tenth Day long holiday from Oct. 7 to Oct. 10.

The only bullet train operator in Taiwan plans to run a total of 1,390 trains during the nine-day period, including 194 additional trains (95 southbound and 99 northbound) for the anticipated increased number of passengers during the holiday. The company also stated that it will maintain early bird discounts and college student discounts during this period.

THSRC will allot early bird discounts to a total of 656 trains, accounting for 47% of the total trains to be operated during the holiday. Passengers will have the opportunity of 35%, 20% or 10% discounts if they book tickets five to 28 days in advance of their date of travel.

The company said it will still maintain three to five non-reserved cars in every train during the holiday.

The company urged passengers to make use of the online booking system at over 10,000 convenience stores around Taiwan, as well as the T Express mobile phone booking system to avoid lining up in front of ticket counters in stations.
