TAIPEI (Taiwan News) – The Taiwan Railways Administration (TRA) announced on Saturday that the Alishan Forest Railway will add a new scenic spot and make some changes to its attractive tourist-oriented train tours this October.
In a statement, the TRA said that they are working to add more stations to the Alishan Train Pongbi (阿里山火車碰壁) tour by opening the Shuishan branch line (水山支線) at the beginning of October.
"Pongbi" means to travel along a zigzag path, and this is the main route of train tour taking passengers to enjoy the beautiful scenery of Alishan.The additional line will take passengers through a large forest, at the end of which is a 19.6-meter long wooden bridge and the 2,000-year-old Shuishan giant tree.
The Alishan Train Pongbi tour costs NT$880 (US$29.2) for a roundtrip ticket, including tour guide fee and lunch.
