TAIPEI (Taiwan News) – Taiwanese lawmakers appeared exhausted and lethargic after the protracted negotiations over the budget of infrastructure program at Taiwan's Legislative Yuan, reported CNA.

Before the session on the budget for the Forward-looking Infrastructure Development Program (前瞻基礎建設計畫) comes to close on Aug. 31, legislators of leading parties could no longer hide their exhaustion after many dates of debates, chaos, and brawls at in Taiwan's Legislature.

After two restless days of debates from Aug 28-29, both the physical and mental powers of legislators have been thorough drained. Consequently, many of them slumped over the tables and grabbed some much-needed shuteye during the afternoon short break.

In the meeting on August 23, Cabinet spokesman Hsu Kuo-yung (徐國勇) derided Taiwan's lack of infrastructure investment and called for discussions with legislative caucuses over the budget for the Forward-looking Infrastructure Development Program (前瞻基礎建設計畫). However, the budget for this infrastructure plan remained a major source of discord between Taiwan's two leading parties.
