TAIPEI (Taiwan News) -- Wan Hai Lines Ltd. (萬海), a Taiwanese-based shipping company, will open an independent route to Cambodia as part of a bid to expand its Asia shipping network.
The container shipper will start a new weekly service between South China – Thailand and Cambodia on Sept. 21. The service will be operated by two container vessels each with a nominal capacity of 1,000 20-foot equivalent units (TEU).
According to Wan Hai, the launch of the Cambodia route is to forge closer business ties with the 10 countries in Southeast Asia along with South-Asian countries under the implementation of the New Southbound Policy.
Port rotation of the service will start from Shekou in China and sail to Hong Kong, Bangkok and Laem Chabang in Thailand, and then will go on to Sihanoukville in Cambodia before returning to Shekou. Each journey will take around 14 days, Wan Hai said.
