TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — After nearly two months of travel, the Universiade torch finally arrived in Taipei City on Thursday delivered by Taipei City Mayor Ko Wen-je (柯文哲).

The torch arrived at the Taipei Stadium, where the opening ceremony will be held on Saturday, and was lightened in a 53-year-old Chinese cauldron (毛公鼎) temporarily until the opening ceremony, when it will be delivered to the Universiade official cauldron by four Taiwanese top-level athletes.

The torch was first delivered on June 20 when Mayor Ko ignited the Universiade flame in Turin, Italy. The fire was passed through Italy, Thailand and Korea and arrived atTaiwan's highest mountain Yushan (玉山) on July 6.
