TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — The top stories this week included roof top apartment fire in Shihlin District that killed two foreign students, a black out that hit the entire country amidst sweltering heat, Taiwan Economics Minister resign as a result of the massive blackout, Taipei Mayor Ko Wen-je considering the legalization of prostitution zone in Wanhua District, and a study by a researcher at Fu Jen Catholic University that revealed the old Taiwanese standbys -- aged braised pork, tea eggs, and pork broth -- could be carcinogenic, especially after cooked for more than three hours.
