The weather across Taiwan is expected to remain hot on Saturday with occasional showers likely in coastal areas in the south, according to the Central Weather Bureau (CWB).
The CWB said that high temperatures in Taiwan are forecast to generally range between 33 and 34 degrees Celsius, while the mercury in the greater Taipei area, Keelung and Taoyuan could hit 35 degrees or even reach 36 degrees.
A high pressure system in the Pacific is intensifying its strength so people in Taiwan proper and outlaying islands are expected to take on a sunny weather throughout Saturday, the CWB said.
The bureau said, however, thunderstorms are possible in the mountain areas of the country in the afternoon so people should keep alert over rains for the sake of safety when they take outdoor activities in the mountain area.
Ultraviolet rays are expected to reach dangerous levels, in particular around noon, the CWB said, advising against outdoor activities and warning people to take precautions or drink more water to prevent heat strokes if they must go out.
