Occasional showers or thunderstorms have been forecast on Wednesday under the influence of southwesterly winds, but daytime highs will still reach above 30 degrees Celsius, according to the Central Weather Bureau.
The central and southern parts of Taiwan and the outlying islands of Penghu, Kinmen and Matsu are likely to experience sporadic showers and thunderstorms during the day, the bureau said, while warning of afternoon thunderstorms on other parts of the island.
The bureau also issued a heavy rain warning for Yunlin County, Chiayi City, Chiayi County, Tainan City, Kaohsiung City, Pingtung County and offshore Penghu County that will be in effect until Wednesday night.
Temperatures will range between 26 and 35 degrees Celsius in northern Taiwan, 26 and 32 degrees in central Taiwan, 25 and 31 degrees in southern Taiwan, and 26 and 33 degrees in eastern Taiwan, the bureau said.
Meanwhile, Tropical Storm Nalgae, which formed earlier Wednesday in the northern Pacific Ocean, will not affect Taiwan, the bureau said.
