TAIPEI (Taiwan News)-- Typhoon Nesat caused damage to 38 schools, and the cost of damage was estimated at NT$8.2 million (US$271,000), reported the Ministry of Education Sunday morning.
No casualties were reported, the ministry said.
Twenty-three schools need repair in Taipei City, followed by 13 schools in Yilan County, one in New Taipei City and one in Hsinchu City.
Power outages have been reported in Yilan County, New Taipei City, Hsinchu City, Taoyuan City, Pingtung County, Hsinchu County and Miaoli County. Taiwan Power Co. (Taipower) has sent 2,100 repair staff to fix the problems.
Electricity supply had been restored for 383,087 households as of 11 a.m. Sunday.
