TAIPEI (Taiwan News)--Guatemalan Minister of Foreign Affairs, Carlos Raul Morales Moscoso visited Taiwan on July 20.
The minister arrived in Taiwan after accepting the invitation extended by the Taiwan government on that same day. During his visit he exchanged opinions with Minister of Foreign Affairs David Tawei Lee, about different ways of reinforcing diplomatic relations between both countries.
After cutting off ties with Panama, Taiwan's government has launched a campaign to solidify relations with its diplomatic allies. Earlier in July, President of Paraguay Horacio Cartes confirmed an important agreement to benefit the commercial exchange for both nations.
The minister also made arrangements to stopover and learn about waste water treatment and recycling resources in Taiwan.
Guatemala is one of the 20 remaining countries that still maintain official diplomatic ties with Taiwan instead of China, 11 of such countries located in Latin America and the Caribbean.
