TAIPEI (Taiwan News) - Foreign Minister of Guatemala, Carlos Raul Morales Moscoso, arrived in Taiwan on Thursday on a two-day visit aimed at bolstering bilateral relations.

During his stay in the nation, the foreign minister will meet with his Taiwanese counterpart, David Lee (李大維), who will host a dinner banquet in honor of Morales’ official visit.

According to Taiwan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA), Morales will be inspecting the nation’s wastewater treatment systems and the operation of waste recycling plants.

The foreign minister will also meet with H.E. Amb. Frederick Muller from the Republic of the Marshall Islands during his stay in Taiwan and sign a joint communique on behalf of his government on the establishment of diplomatic relations with the Pacific Island country.

The ROC established diplomatic relations with Guatemala in 1933. In January, President Tsai Ing-wen visited Guatemala as part of her Central American tour, during which she met with her counterpart, Guatemalan President Jimmy Morales and thanked the country for its staunch support for Taiwan.
