TAIPEI (Taiwan News) – Taiwanese fans of British pop star Ed Sheeran, who is at the moment scoring a huge hit worldwide with the song “Shape Of You,” will only have to wait until October 22 to see their idol perform live in Taipei, reports said Wednesday.
The 26-year-old redhead who names his albums for mathematical symbols will apparently perform at the Taipei Nangang Exhibition Center, according to an unconfirmed report by the Chinese-language Apple Daily. More details will be revealed on June 8, the tour organizer AEG announced on its Facebook page Wednesday.
Sheeran’s Asia Tour will take him to another 11 destinations, from Osaka, Tokyo and Hong Kong over Bangkok and Mumbai to end in Dubai on November 23.
He has sold more than 22 million records worldwide, with his current album, named “÷” or “Divide” reportedly selling 1 million copies within two weeks of its release. Songs like “Castle On The Hill” and the Irish-tinged “Galway Girl” have become big hits, though none of them as much as “Shape Of You,” which he reportedly first wrote with the intention of Rihanna recording the song. The video of the song shows a heavily tattooed Sheeran training for a boxing match with a young African-American woman but ending up on the floor against sumo wrestler Yama.
He has reportedly been invited to star in the hit television series “Game of Thrones.”
