TAIPEI (Taiwan News)--An 19-seat airplane flying at full capacity skidded off the runway while landing at the local airport on Orchid Island, an offshore island off the coast of the eastern Taiwanese county of Taitung, on Thursday afternoon; nobody on board was seriously hurt, a media report said.

A Daily Air Corporation’s (德安航空) 19-seat commuter, DHC6-400, which departed from Taitung, veered off the runway and hit the railing on one side of the runway nose-first at the Lanyu Airport around 3:30 p.m. due to a strong crosswind, damaging its nose and engine, according to the report.

The 17 passengers and two crew members on board the plane were safe, the report said. Three of the passengers suffered from scratches, but they refused to be hospitalized, the reported added.
