Fans camping out in Daan Forest Park for Mayday’s free concert

Mayday made a surprise announcement Tuesday that they will hold a free concert at a city park on March 29

TAIPEI (Taiwan News) -- Mayday, one of the Chinese-speaking world's biggest bands, made a surprise announcement Tuesday that they will hold a free concert at a city park on March 29, marking the group's 20th anniversary.20th anniversary.

The gig marks a return to the venue after 20 years where the band played their first major concert in 1997. People has already started camping out and standing in line in Daan Forest Park in order to secure a good spot for the concert taking place next Wednesday.

Parks and Street Lights Office Director Yang Shu-hui of Taipei City's Public Works Department said she was quite worried about the amount of people that would turn out for the concert.

The performance area of the park could accommodate around 5,000 people, including the 1,500 seats available in front of the park's amphitheater, Yang said.
