Taipei (Taiwan News) -- The Aowanda National Forest Recreation Area in Nantou is known as the "Hometown of Maples" in Taiwan for its large stands of maple trees. Due to the late onset of winter this year, the leaves on the maple and bald pine trees have been slow to change color. It has only been the past few days that tourists have finally had an opportunity to see the beautiful hues of yellow, orange and red fall foliage in the area.
