Chan sisters leave for Singapore for second appearance in WTA Finals

Taiwanese sisters Chan Yung-jan and Chan Hao-ching left Taiwan Monday for the season-ending BNP Paribas WTA Finals Singapore, which takes place from Oct. 23 – 30.

The Chan sisters captured their 8th WTA doubles titles at the Prudential Hong Kong Tennis Open on Oct. 16, which they said had boosted their confidence level in the lead-up to the WTA finals.

Chan Yung-jan broadcast live on Facebook at the airport on Monday, saying it is her third time and second time in a row with her sister to be qualified for participating in the finale. Being qualified for the final eight teams is a big recognition to professional players, and the rare opportunity of being able to play with her sister again in the event makes it even more treasurable, the older sister said.

She said it was the first time for her to make a Facebook live broadcast at an airport and that she thanked for the support of their fans.

The season-ending WTA event in Singapore features the season's top 8 singles players and top 8 doubles teams competing for US$7 million in prize money. The doubles event starts on Oct. 27, according to the event's official website.
