CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. (AP) -- Pennsylvania State Police say a teacher at a Christian school accidently left her loaded pistol in a bathroom, where it was found by elementary school children.
Police say 63-year-old Beth Jean Dixon put her pistol on a toilet tank when she used the unisex, one-toilet bathroom Aug. 25 at Cumberland Christian School, in Chambersburg. They say she forgot about it and left.
Four children ages 6 to 8 used the bathroom while the gun was on the toilet. One child told his parent, who told a teacher.
The school president tells the Public Opinion (http://bit.ly/2c6wVwQ ) the gun was loaded. No one was injured.
Police say she immediately resigned.
She's facing charges including reckless endangerment and endangering the welfare of children.
No attorney information or phone listing is available for Dixon.
