Tsai to host DPP Central Executive Committee meeting May 25

President Tsai Ing-wen will host a meeting of her Democratic Progressive Party's (DPP's) Central Executive Committee May 25 in her capacity as party chairwoman, the DDP said Monday. It will be the first time Tsai has hosted the meeting since being sworn in as Taiwan's first female president May 20.

During the meeting, she will announce a name-list of new party executives, including Hung Yao-fu, who will be promoted to the position of DPP secretary-general from the post of deputy secretary-general, according to DPP sources.

In the DPP, many chiefs of party affairs and aides have been recruited to Tsai's government since she won the presidency Jan. 16. Thus, the party's headquarters is in need of a personnel shuffle.

Former lawmaker Lee Chun-yi, former DPP spokesman Hsu Chia-ching and former director of the DPP Secretariat Kao Shing-hsueh will take over the posts of deputy secretaries-general, party sources said.
