Desperate fishing families along Chile's southern coast continued to see their beaches blanketed with dead fish as red tide algae bloom kills them with a toxin that paralyzes the central nervous system. Some people had no money to buy food.

Models goofed around backstage taking selfies in between trips to the catwalk during Bogota Fashion Week in Colombia, while quarterfinal matches were played across the region in the Copa Libertadores soccer tournament.

In Ecuador, hair dressers who lost their shop last month's powerful earthquake took their work to the streets and cut clients' hair under the open sky. Kids were entertained by volunteers to lift the mood of those living in tents after losing their homes.

Youths dressed as Haitian independence heroes celebrated the anniversary of the creation of their national flag on Flag Day.

Anti-government protesters were detained in Venezuela after clashing with police who blocked them from marching to the electoral body headquarters to press their demands for a referendum on removing President Nicolas Maduro from office.
