Taoyuan airport warns passengers of holiday traffic delays

Taipei, Feb. 2 (CNA) The Taiwan Taoyuan International Airport said Tuesday that it expects air traffic to peak between Feb. 3-6 and Feb. 10-17, with a maximum passenger volume expected to top 140,000 per day.

Airport authorities urged passengers to arrive at the airport early or complete self-service check-in registration at home via their smartphones.

The airport authorities said outbound passengers should check in three hours prior to their scheduled departure times.

Taiwan will have a nine-day Lunar New Year holiday Feb. 6-14.

To facilitate customs clearance, passengers can apply for automated immigration clearance system, commonly known as e-Gate. The time needed for such applications is only two minutes, carried out online, and it affords travelers faster clearance through immigration. (By Bien Chin-feng and Lilian Wu)
