SEOUL, South Korea (AP) -- Organizers for the 2018 Olympics in Pyeongchang say that the construction of a gondola will be completed in time for the Alpine test event in February.
A men's World Cup downhill and super-G are scheduled to be held at the Jeongseon resort on Feb. 6-7.
Pyeongchang organizers say they are working with an Austrian manufacturer "on a tight schedule to complete the installation of the gondola by 20 January."
Having voiced concern, the International Ski Federation has set a deadline of Jan. 20 to decide if the races will be confirmed.
Calling off the races would be a severe blow to the Winter Games' preparations.
Organizers say snow-making on the course began Wednesday and "the systems will be operated in full capacity through January to meet the snow quality required for World Cup races."
