Bollywood stars nostalgic about Taiwan

A group of stars in Bollywood said Wednesday that they missed the beauty of Taiwan and the hospitality that they experienced during a photoshoot on the island in November.

Miss India 2011 Sukirti Kandpal, one of the 15 Indian celebrities who visited Taiwan last month, said she loves Taiwan.

"To me, Taiwan is a very beautiful country," she said. "It is very modern. I do love Taiwan."

The celebrities were attending the launch of a calendar produced by the Taiwan Tourism Bureau primarily for the Indian market.

It features the 15 Indian celebrities, who were invited by the Tourism Bureau to take part in a photoshoot that highlighted several major tourist sites in Taiwan, including the Taipei 101 skyscraper, Nanya Wonder Rock on the northeast coast, the bustling Ximenting business district in Taipei, Gingtiangang on Yanmingshan, Ten Drum Creative Park in Kaohsiung, and Sun Moon Lake in Nantou.

Award winning actress Sara Khan said she did a lot of shopping during her visit to Taiwan.

"It was amazing," she said at the calendar launch, which was also attended by Hsieh Chang-ming, director of Tourism Bureau's office in Singapore, who had organized the photoshoot.

Bollywood is one of the biggest movie industries in the world, producing about 1,000 movies a year, five of which were filmed in Taiwan in 2010, the bureau said, adding that it hopes the calendar would lure more Bollywood filmmakers and Indian tourists to Taiwan.
