VAL D'ISERE, France (AP) -- Lindsey Vonn posted the fastest time in the downhill leg of a World Cup super-combined, putting her in the lead ahead of the slalom later Friday.
Vonn, the overall World Cup leader after winning four races this season, finished in 1 minute, 44.13 seconds. Swiss skier Lara Gut was .38 seconds behind and Cornelia Huetter of Austria was third fastest, .88 behind Vonn.
Although Vonn, who was also fastest ahead of Gut in Thursday's training run, has won two slalom races, it is not her favorite discipline. The last of those slalom wins was back in 2009.
Vonn won last year's downhill in Val d'Isere and has two career super-combined wins at the French resort in 2009 and 2010.
