Tsai in Kinmen stumps for DPP candidate

Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) presidential candidate Tsai Ing-wen was in Kinmen Wednesday evening campaigning for the DPP legislative candidate Chen Tsang-chiang. Over 1,000 people came in support of the event.

“Not only are we here to support candidate Chen, but also for myself as a presidential candidate,” said Tsai.

Kinmen County as one of the toughest constituencies for the DPP, has been difficult for the DPP to win over voters. However, the DPP is making significant progress in Kinmen with the effort of candidate Chen and the local party headquarters.

“From 500 votes to 3,000 votes, we can see DPP’s progress in Kinmen,” Tsai said. “We’re hoping that we can gain more than 3,000 votes this time.”

When serving as the Minister of the Council of Mainland Affairs during the DPP administration, Tsai was dedicated to pushing the opening of the “Three Small Links” with China. “Hopefully DPP will return to power, unleashing more opportunities for development in Kinmen,” Tsai promised, adding that she would enhance Kinmen’s infrastructure, especially in terms of the quality of medical services, to the same level as the main island.
