I-Mei CEO Luis Ko explores oil and fat in new book

TAIPEI (Taiwan News) – As Taiwan has been racked by repeated food safety scandals, I-Mei Foods Co., Ltd. General Manager Luis Ko on Wednesday published the second book in his series about “a small revolution in food safety” under the title of “All Animals Need Oil & Fat – It Is Difficult to Find Good Oil,” a tome designed to teach the public how to select “good oil.”
Ko has long been noted for his concerns about the health and safety of food produced in Taiwan.
The new book has been published in two versions, a practical “family kitchen” version and a more academically focused “campus scientific” edition. People use a wide variety of oils and fats, but professional knowledge is not necessary for every person.
The family kitchen edition centers on practical use and is easy to understand, providing the average consumer with a quick but interesting read. The campus scientific version contains four extra chapters with added professional information which can be used as teaching materials in higher education.
Following his first book, “Far from Toxic Fruit and Vegetables,” Ko published this second tome, “All Animals Need Oil & Fat,” in the hope of using his own wide experience in the food sector to bring together the problems of government, consumers and producers, and encourage everybody to face the issue and take action, otherwise one food safety disaster after another will continue to erupt.
“All Animals Need Oil & Fat,” the second book in the series “A Small Revolution in Food Safety,” combines the practical and the professional, considers the issues of oil and fat from several angles while also offering suggestions and reflections about food safety policies. Ko said he hoped that after reading the book, members of the public would understand edible oils and fats present in daily life and find the oil products most suitable to themselves.
