SYDNEY (AP) -- The Australian Open will be played next year at Royal Sydney Golf Club, the 15th time the Rose Bay venue has hosted the country's national championship.
The tournament was last held at Royal Sydney in 2013 when Rory McIlroy overtook Adam Scott on the 72nd hole to prevent the Australian from winning all three Australian majors that year.
Golf Australia chief executive Stephen Pitt said Sunday that Royal Sydney, which first hosted the Australian Open in 1906, would be included in a four-course rotation. The others are The Australian, which hosted the tournament this year, The Lakes and New South Wales.
Golf Australia recently signed an eight-year deal with the New South Wales state government to keep the tournament in Sydney.
Dates for next year's tournament have not been set.
