Regent Taipei lights up a giant Christmas tree

Christmas Tree Lighting has been a significant tradition of Regent Taipei for over 23 years. Hosted by Mr. Steven Pan, the owner of FIH Regent Group and Mr. Michael B. Gaehler, the General Manager of Regent Taipei this year, Regent Taipei specially invites Kuo Feng-Pin, the Chairman of American Express and Zhang Xiao-Feng, the owner representative of Regent Chongqing as well as the President General Manger of Chongqing Casin Reale State Group to conduct this extraordinary annual ceremony at the newly renovated azie on Friday, November 20th at 6:30pm.

Towering over the centre of azie, Regent Taipei's Christmas tree is 42 feet height, equivalent to three-floors high and is decorated with 27,000 LED light bulbs, 2,600 colorful bows, 5,000 glitter balls, 1,500 golden nuts and 2,100 poinsettia ornaments valuing more than NT$1 million.

To celebrate the coming of Christmas as well as its 25th anniversary, Regent Taipei comes up with a special “Light Up Your Memory Facebook” event for guests to upload their precious Christmas photos with Regent. During this month, the fan page has received over 500 photos, with participants from as far away as Japan and the United States.

“These photos are collective memories of Regent Taipei and are great to be shared in this meaningful occasion” stated Mr. Michael B. Gaehler, the General Manager of Regent Taipei.

With deep appreciation to our guests, the first 500 photos will be printed on Polaroid, placed into a transparent Christmas Wishing Ball with small snowflakes and hung on the Christmas tree until after the Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony. Students of Taipei European School will also be invited to perform an enchanting Christmas chorus in front of the latest model of BMW X1 show car as an opening to this year’s fascinating Christmas Tree Lighting Event.
