NEW ORLEANS (AP) -- A real estate heir facing murder charges in California is scheduled for a new arraignment on a weapons charge in New Orleans.
A U.S. District Court docket entry states that Robert Durst has a change of plea hearing Dec. 17. An attached notice for the new arraignment says a pre-sentence report will be made "after the defendant has entered a guilty plea."
Durst faces a charge of illegally possessing a .38-caliber revolver after being convicted of a felony.
He's charged with murder in Los Angeles, where he's accused of killing his friend Susan Berman.
Durst attorney Richard DeGuerin won't say whether Durst will plead guilty to anything. He says only that Durst is eager to prove he's innocent of Berman's death and wants to resolve other charges so he can be transferred to California.
