Local firm wins Taiwan International Graphic Design Award

Kaohsiung, Nov. 16 (CNA) The Grand Prize in the seventh Taiwan International Graphic Design Award has been awarded to Victor Branding Design Corp. , the first Taiwanese company to win the top prize.

The award-winning design, "Cha Tzu Tang" by the Taichung-based firm, won from a field of 4,811 entries from 54 countries and regions -- the largest number of entries in the history of the award.

The design creates a unique brand image for a local manufacturer, using camellia seed oil, the judges said at the award ceremony on Nov. 14.

The Taiwan International Design Award is sponsored by the Department of Commerce under the Ministry of Economic Affairs on a biennial basis to enhance the visibility of Taiwan's design power and promote exchanges between local and international design communities.

The international panel of judges comprises experts from two or more global regions, with females making up one third of the total number, according to the organizers.

The judging criteria include creativity, completeness of composition, stringency, commercial value, authenticity, and delivery of theme. (By Cheng Chi-feng and Jeffrey Wu)
